What service do you need?
Proofreading
Reading a typeset document line by line to correct typographical, mechanical, & formatting errors only.
Copy Editing
Reading text to correct for grammar, punctuation, usage, & style, as well as ensuring text is consistent & sentence structure is effective.
Developmental Editing
An in-depth edit of the entire manuscript, examining all elements of your writing, from single words to overall structure and style, including plot holes or content gaps, problematic characterization, etc.
Projects I've Worked On
In the years I've spent working with words, I've been fortunate enough to work on a wide variety of projects. In the realm of books, I've worked on many fiction titles, including romance (through my work as a proofreader for Harlequin) and YA genres, and I've worked on a variety of nonfiction titles as well, in the genres of memoir, motivational & self-help, and sports history. I have over six years' experience working with academic texts, from academic journal articles to essays, dissertations, and papers. I also have experience working with business documents, including handbooks, training modules & manuals, resource guides, & annual reports.

ABOUT ME
Hi there! I’m Lesley-Anne Longo. I’ve been a lover of words (and a voracious reader) my entire life, and it was a natural step for me to develop that love into a career as an editor.
After graduating from York University with an Honours Double Major in Professional Writing & Communications Studies, I opted to continue to further my editing knowledge through Centennial College’s Book & Magazine Publishing program, from which I graduated with High Honours.
I’ve worked in many areas of the publishing industry, including working with a variety of trade titles, from Young Adult fiction to sports history, at esteemed Canadian indie publisher ECW Press. I also have experience working with a variety of nonfiction projects, including scholarly journal articles, business reports and documents, self-published memoirs, creative nonfiction, and company handbooks. I’ve worked on a number of titles in the romance genre as well through my work as a freelance proofreader with Harlequin. I feel lucky to have the opportunities to work on such varied and diverse titles!
